Lightning Round Update.

May 11th, 2009

Hello!  This is going to be short and sweet…

First and foremost - things are fantastic!

Just ate some Chubby Hubby.  So worth every last calorie.

Had a lovely afternoon with my Mother yesterday - did a little pampering at Tootsies.

Got a new job!  Favorite part among others… have my very first office!  Buh bye cubicles.

A girlfriend came to town whom I hadn’t seen in 6 years!  Old friends are the best…

James is rockin’ a major fro - or at least he was until Sunday.  Now he’s just cute.

Starting to look for houses - first house adventure is Thursday!

My brother and Jen are expecting!  Christmas Day 2009.

One pic for the road…

Over and out!

International Space Station

April 29th, 2009

My Grandpa C shared this site with me yesterday… pretty cool.  It’s a visual representation of how the Space Station has come together over the years.  Fascinating!  I want to be an astronaut when I grow up (in my next life).

Happy Hump Day!

I thought we said sayonara to winter?

April 18th, 2009

Crazy Denver.  The weather here is so schizophrenic.  I’ve lived here for 14 years and it STILL catches me by surprise by it’s complete unpredictability.  But I will say, as odd as it is to be getting such a winter-esque type storm in late April, I love it!  It’s a wonderful excuse to hunker down and be lazy on the couch.

Happy Saturday!

Photo taken yesterday afternoon.  I think we had about a foot of snow by evening, then it started raining and it’s been raining ever since!

It’s Your Fault, Comrades

April 14th, 2009

If you want a ridiculous workout, go buy one of these at your local athletic store…

Then go to this website and meet Pavel…

Then order one of Pavel’s DVDs and pray for your sorry little muscles as you learn the ways of Russian Kettlebells.

This is one. intense. workout. It kicks the &#%! out of your whole body. All I can say is, I can hardly squat low enough to take a pee in the toilet (and I have been doing this workout for a couple weeks now - obviously says a lot about my stellar physical strength).

Anyway, if you decide to take the plunge and attempt Kettlebells, make sure to buy an instructional DVD because as Pavel barks, “if you hurt yourself - it’s your fault, Comrades!”.

Happy Spring

April 12th, 2009

Hello, friends :)  I have been doing a really bad job of posting recently - I don’t know why.  Well, I take that back.  I’ve been sort of lazy when it comes to this blog, and I’m determined to de-lazy my blog self!  Here’s a quick update on the O’s…

James and I are doing great!  Busy little newlyweds… between jobs, friends, and Summer being just around the corner, we’ve been keeping busy!  Yesterday was exactly 6 months to the day since our wedding and we just can’t believe how fast it’s gone by.  If this is any indication of how fast the future is going to slip away, I’m making it a priority to enjoy every little itty bitty second.  So yesterday, in prep for our 1 year anniversary in October, we booked a little vacation to Jamaica.  Wohooo!

What else… went to Rockies Opening Day on Friday, compliments of work (thank you work).  I’m not really the biggest baseball fan, but… Club seats, 60 degree April day, 1/2 day off work, couple beers (yes, I drank beer - ew!) and good convo with a friend - take me out to the ball game!  Oh, and they won (miracle)!

On a totally random note… James and I are HGTV dorks.  Relaxing in bed on Saturday and Sunday mornings, with HGTV on in the background, and a cup of java (or ultra large energy beverage of sorts for James)… is our favorite way to start a lax weekend.  But, with all the HGTV watching comes me and my crazy urges to redo everything in our house.  I love projects!  Yesterday, I reupholstered 2 chairs/bar stools that were in dire need of a make-over.  A much more economical way of sprucing up a room!  Below is the newly upholstered black leather chair on the left next to the sad, faded gray (once was black) chair on the right!  It took minimal effort and dinero to take our chairs from drab to fab!  Martha would be so proud…

Other than that, not much else to share today.  Heading over to James’ folks for dinner tonight, but until then… HGTV and coffee/energy beverage :)

I have a confession…

March 28th, 2009

Just watched What’s Eating Gilbert Grape for the first time.  I know.  16 years behind.  But better late than never, right?

James recorded the movie on our DVR recently, and it’s been sitting in our inbox for weeks.  He had been trying to get me to watch it, but for some reason I have avoided it all these years because I always had the impression that the movie was ultra depressing and sad.  So I never watched it.

Well, I finally gave in last night and watched it with James and I’m embarrasses to say that it was really good.  Can’t believe I waited 16 years to watch one of Leonardo’s most memorable performances.  He was INCREDIBLE in that movie.  And much to my surprise, it wasn’t ultra depressing and sad!  Just a few tiny, happy tears had…

Total White Out

March 26th, 2009

We were warned all week that a big snow storm was imminent for today.  But of course, in true Colorado fashion, we woke up this morning to no snow.  So, thinking that the forecasters had predicted inaccurately once again, got ready as normal and drove into the office around at 8 (still no snow).  But, by the time I had sucked down my soy latte (9:30am), 5 inches had accumulated and visibility was non existent.  With the forecast calling for white out conditions and 15 inches by rush hour, the office closed and we all went home.

So, ended up working from home all day, which is always a plus in my world - but seeing significant snow fall for the first time since last winter is even more exciting.  Especially when it comes in blizzard format.  Wooohooo!

Here is a photo of our balcony around 11 this morning.  Total White Out.

Kristian Joseph

March 26th, 2009

I am a little behind in my updates… little Kristian Joseph was born Sunday, March 8th at 8:55am!  Stacy (my cousin) and baby are doing great!  Kristian is a healthy 8lbs 3oz. 20in long - with a full head of hair!  I think he got some of the hairy Harris genes :).  So precious!

Hope all is going well, Stacy and Alan!  Can’t wait to meet the little guy…

Flu Victim #2

March 18th, 2009

My nightstand says it all. Day 3 of being glued to my sheets. If I would have known that catching James’ flu bug was inevitable, I wouldn’t have avoided him like the plague. I missed 5 days worth of hugs for nothing! Anyway, I’m hoping to work from home tomorrow and head back into the office on Friday. I’m looking forward to socializing with people other than Judge Judy, Oprah, Dr Phil, and Mr Springer.

It was a marvelous night for a moondance…

March 14th, 2009

Went to a Spa Party at MoonDance last night for a girlfriends birthday - it was heaven!  I felt so guilty… James was at home with the flu, and I was sipping champagne while applying a chocolaty, edible mask to my face.   Anyway, the guilt didn’t last long :).  MoonDance is fantabulous…
